CASSINI Hackathon Latvia

The CASSINI Hackathon Latvia took place on 5-7 Nov 2021!

Participants leveraged #EUSpace data & signals to understand and protect the Arctic region. Participants put their skills to the test and tackled one of the three challenges under the theme of Connecting the Arctic.

The CASSINI Hackathon Latvia was organised in Riga to explore how EU Space data could be used to Connect the Arctic and protect its wildlife. This hackathon was a virtual event.


Teams were presented with 3 challenges that tested their creative skills and imagination from the very first brainstorm. They used data from Copernicus, Galileo and EGNOS to imagine game-changing solutions and won career-changing prizes along the way!

Founding for development

The top teams of the CASSINI Hackathon Latvia received up to €2,000 and valuable mentoring sessions with industry professionals:

  • 1st place at the Latvian Hackathon won €1,800 for development and €200 for marketing
  • 2nd place won €950 for development and a 15-hour business development mentoring session 
  • 3rd place won €750

Mentoring

The top 3 teams across all hackathons were awarded an additional 100 hours of expert mentoring.

About the organiser

Green and Smart Technology Cluster is a cooperation network made up of SMEs and the institutions of education, research and business support in Latvia.
