Join the Hackathon in Rome!
Is it time to add space technology skills – and a real project – to your resumé? Join the 11th CASSINI Hackathon to access EU space data and develop a solution which protects our natural water resources.
You don’t need any experience: you’ll get all the training and tools to utilise EU space data and tackle the issues of water scarcity, flooding, or pollution. Over three days in Rome, you’ll hear from experts in space tech and environmental industries. You’ll learn how to access datasets from Copernicus, EGNOS and Galileo. Then you’ll connect with other professionals to form a multi-skilled team. This edition has three challenges on the theme of water:
- Securing equitable and efficient access to water
- Tracking and preventing water pollution
- Disaster risk monitoring
On April 25, Italy celebrates Liberation Day, a symbol of freedom, resilience, and collective progress.

Named after Hypatia of Alexandria, a symbol of knowledge, independence, and scientific excellence, the Hypatia Research Consortium is an interdisciplinary hub where research, innovation, and technology transfer come together to create real-world impact. Embedded in the Tuscolana innovation district of Rome, Hypatia operates within one of Italy’s most dynamic ecosystems for science and high-tech development. It connects universities, research institutions, and industry partners to accelerate the transformation of advanced research into practical solutions that address societal and environmental challenges.
This is why Hypatia is particularly relevant to the CASSINI Hackathon: because it acts as an enabling bridge, supporting teams with scientific insight, real-world context, and access to an innovation network that strengthens both the quality and the impact of their solutions. By combining the energy of CASSINI with Hypatia’s research-driven ecosystem, participants gain more than a competition; they gain a pathway to transform space data into scalable solutions for Europe’s most pressing water and sustainability challenges.
