Join the CASSINI Hackathon in Sofia Tech Park - the first science and technology park in Bulgaria!
Have you ever wanted to build your own business and to develop solutions or services made for consumers, based on space data and technologies?
At the 10th CASSINI Hackathon, you’re invited to create space innovations with applications in consumer industries such as gaming, sports or travel.
Our participants get all the training and tools to utilise EU space data and reimagine the consumer experience. Over three days in Sofia Tech Park, you’ll hear from experts in sports, gaming and travel. You’ll explore the data available from Copernicus, EGNOS and Galileo. Then you’ll connect with other professionals to form a multi-skilled team.
Your challenge? Pick one:
#1 Immersive gameplay with space technology and data.
Can you use Galileo’s positioning data to enhance dynamic gameplay? Utilise satellite connectivity for real-time updates? Or create your own core gameplay mechanics to integrate real resource management data?
#2 Space-powered performance - transforming sports.
Could you use GNSS to improve athletes’ analytics? Create training plans which are adaptable to the weather and terrain? Or develop an immersive app for fans to feel like they’re running with their favourite players?
#3 Beyond horizons - redefining travel with space innovation.
Would you use satellite imagery and Galileo positioning to help travellers enjoy safer, sustainable trips? Build a tool for travel agents to make their service more personalised? Or create an immersive app which allows people to explore from anywhere?

Who can participate?

No space tech experience needed – explore the official online training library to learn about the space data that you’ll use.

No team required – you can join as part of a group or alone; you’ll be able to connect with other professionals to build a dream team.

You might not be a coder – teams need creative and business people too! The Hackathon is open to everyone of legal adult age and must reside either in the European Union (any country) or in the non-EU country associated with Horizon Europe at any stage in their career.
The Hackathon is an amazing networking opportunity for all teams.
You will hear opinions and shared experiences from experts from industries, institutions, and investors.
Prizes
Local prizes will include:
#WINNER (1st place in the competition)
- 2 working places in the GROWORKING co-working space by Sofia Tech Park for a period of 1 month
- 1 year free pass for onsite workshops in the incubation program of Sofia Tech Park – SEEIP
#1st RUNNER UP (2nd place in the competition)

The top 3 teams across all competing hackathons will each be awarded an additional 6 months of expert mentoring by Cassini.

Sofia Tech Park is the first science and technology park in Bulgaria that develops activities in support of start-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises, science, education and innovation.
It functions as a hub for researchers, innovative start-ups and mature technology companies from Bulgaria and the region. Its activities are dedicated to the development and management of a unique environment to support and grow small and medium-sized companies by providing know-how, networking opportunities and access to new technologies in three key areas: information and communication technologies, life sciences and clean energy.
Sofia Tech Park is based on connecting knowledge, people and technology, and includes several main components:
- a laboratory complex with 11 high-tech units in the fields of biotechnology, bioengineering, 3D printing and prototyping, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, cybersecurity, etc.,
- a Business incubator;
- a Petascale Discoverer Supercomputer;
- an interactive centre for science and technology,
- a forum for events and makerspace.
The project is funded by the Operational Programme Development of the Competitiveness of the Bulgarian Economy and the Operational Programme Innovation and Competitiveness.
