The CASSINI Hackathon Italy took place on 5-7 Nov 2021!

Participants leveraged #EUSpace data & signals to understand and protect the Arctic region. Participants put theird skills to the test and tackled one of the three challenges under the theme of Connecting the Arctic.

The CASSINI Hackathon Italy was held in Lomazzo to explore how EU Space data could be used to Connect the Arctic and protect its wildlife. This hackathon was a hybrid event, so participants could join in person or virtually!

The Hackathon Italy will take place at Sviluppo Como ComoNExT, Via Cavour 2
22074 Lomazzo (CO), from Friday, 5 November at 17:30 CET.


Teams were presented with 3 challenges that tested their creative skills and imagination from the very first brainstorm. They used data from Copernicus, Galileo and EGNOS to imagine game-changing solutions and won career-changing prizes along the way!
 

Prizes

  • 1st place at the Italian Hackathon won a place on a 3-month pre-incubation programme valued at €10,000 and space in a business incubator with tutoring worth €750.
  • 2nd place won a 3-day pre-incubation placement valued at €3,000, as well as a dedicated tutor.
  • 3rd place won a full day incubation session worth €1,000 with tutor and innovation manager support.

Winning teams were also invited on a guided tour of the high-tech labs of The University of Insubria where particles detectors are tested.

The top 3 teams across all hackathons were awarded an additional 100 hours of expert mentoring.

About the organiser

ComoNExT organised the Italian Hackathon. The organisation is a Digital Innovation Hub established in 2010 which now hosts more than 150 tenant businesses including many local startups.
