The CASSINI Hackathon Slovakia took place on 5-7 Nov 2021!

Participants leveraged #EUSpace data & signals to understand and protect the Arctic region. Participants put their skills to the test and tackled one of the three challenges under the theme of Connecting the Arctic.

The CASSINI Hackathon Slovakia was organised to explore how EU Space data could be used to Connect the Arctic and protect its wildlife! This hackathon was a virtual event.


Teams were presented with 3 challenges that tested their creative skills and imagination from the very first brainstorm. They used data from Copernicus, Galileo and EGNOS to imagine game-changing solutions and won career-changing prizes along the way!

 

Valuable programmes 

The winning teams of the CASSINI Hackathon Slovakia received valuable prizes:

  • 1st place received €3,000
  • 2nd place received €1,500
  • 3rd place received €500

The top teams also received:

  • A night at Laboratory of Cosmic Physics on Lomnický štít – one of the highest peaks in Slovakia
  • 15 hours of business and technical mentoring from SARIO
  • An opportunity to pitch the idea in front of the Slovak VC community
  • An opportunity to pitch the idea to the Slovak Space Incubator
  • 3 years of free membership in Slovak Aerospace Cluster
  • Legal consultancy from SCHIN & MAJDÚCH Legal

About the organiser

The Slovak Space Office will be organising the CASSINI Hackathon Slovakia this time around. The SSO is a joint project of the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency and the Ministry of Education, Science, Research, and Sport of the Slovak Republic. 

The Industrial Branch at SARIO is in charge of developing the Slovak space ecosystem and bilateral international cooperation. Because of this, the organisation represents the perfect organiser for the Slovakian Hackathon this time around.
