Join the Hackathon in Barcelona!

Interested in creating solutions using EU space technology to support international development and humanitarian aid? The 6th CASSINI Hackathon is open for entries. This is your chance to explore important global challenges from a new perspective with people from all backgrounds!

Find inspiration from experts, and gain the know-how to utilise data from Copernicus, satellite positioning and navigation services from Galileo & EGNOS. Embark with your team on one of three challenges centred around the theme of international development and humanitarian aid:

  1. Supporting sustainable infrastructure development
  2. Strengthening food security & access to clean water
  3. Understanding and forecasting forced migration

Our Spanish organiser, Fundació Privada Knowledge Innovation Market, together with the Chamber of Commerce of Barcelona, the Institute for Spatial Studies of Catalonia, and the Cartographical and Geological Institute of Catalonia are co-organising the 6th CASSINI Hackathon. Take advantage of this unique chance to learn from all four organisers and leave with some excellent new connections!

Join us in Barcelona between Friday the 3rd and Sunday the 5th of November to learn how to turn your ideas and our space data into impactful solutions. Our region has an important role to play in meeting global challenges like climate change, population flow and water management. Will you be one of those who makes a difference?

Prizes

The winners of the CASSINI Hackathon Spain will receive up to €3,000 in cash prizes:

  • First place: €2,000 
  • Second place: €600
  • Third place: €400

The top three teams will all receive technical, legal, and business support packages to further develop their ideas.

 

 

Mentoring

The top 3 teams across all competing hackathons will be awarded an additional 100 hours of expert mentoring.

About the organisers

Fundació Privada Knowledge Innovation Market BCN (KIMbcn) will be organising the Hackathon in Spain! KIMbcn, supported by the Chamber of Commerce of Barcelona, the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC) and the Cartographical and Geological Institute of Catalonia (ICGC) have strongly collaborated in the promotion and uptake of space-based developments in Catalonia and have become key players of the new space economy in Catalonia.

The consortium will take advantage of their existing cooperation schemes, combined knowledge on space developments and unique experience in organising space data-oriented hackathons to organise an impactful hackathon.
